What is a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test? The resting metabolic rate is the number of calories our body requires to complete normal biological functions at rest. Once you understand this value, the addition of physical activity (exercise) and the thermic effect of feeding can be calculated to calculate total energy expenditure and adjust your dietary intake to promote weight gain, loss or maintenance. What are the test procedures? Due to the nature of the test being completed at rest, the test procedures are very simple. You will be required to relax for up to 20 minutes whilst breathing into a tube connected to our Cosmed FITmate Metabolic Analyser. *It is important that you do not eat a large meal, or spicy foods or intake any stimulants (caffeine) in the 4 hours before the test. How much is a test, and how do I book? The full cost for a Resting Metabolic Rate Test is £45, and the session will last approximately 30-45 mins. Following that, we’ll briefly discuss your results and then provide your report & summary via email. Unlike others, we actively promote people to raise questions and keep in touch! For an additional fee, we can travel to a location of your choice.
